Pakistan’s security forces thwarted a major infiltration attempt from Afghanistan, eliminating 30 Khawarij militants during two nights of operations in North Waziristan, the military’s media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), said in a statement issued Friday.
According to the ISPR, intelligence detected the movement of a large group of terrorists—identified as members of the Indian-backed outfit Fitna al Khawarij—attempting to cross into Pakistan through the Hassan Khel area along the Pak-Afghan border on the nights of July 1–2 and 2–3.
Troops responded swiftly, engaging the group and successfully repelling the infiltration attempt. The operation led to the killing of all 30 militants, and a significant cache of weapons, ammunition, and explosives was recovered from the site.
The ISPR noted that the neutralized militants were responsible for multiple previous attacks targeting both civilians and law enforcement personnel within Pakistan.
In its statement, the military called on the Interim Afghan Government to take effective measures to prevent foreign-sponsored terrorist groups from using Afghan soil to launch attacks against Pakistan.
The military reaffirmed its commitment to national security, declaring that Pakistan’s armed forces remain steadfast in defending the country’s borders and in their resolve to eliminate Indian-sponsored terrorism.
