Pakistan Express Derails Near Mubarakpur Station, No Casualties Reported

Two carriages of the 45-Up Pakistan Express, traveling from Karachi to Rawalpindi, derailed early Saturday morning near Mubarakpur Railway Station in Bahawalpur district, Express News reported, citing railway sources.The incident occurred at 6:05 AM when the fourth AC Standard bogie from the rear slipped off the track entirely. The adjoining dining car was also impacted by the derailment, but thankfully, there were no injuries or fatalities.Railway officials swiftly dispatched a relief train from Sama Satta, and rescue teams are actively working to clear the track and restore train services. Emergency teams are on-site, and authorities have prioritised passenger safety and a quick return to normal operations.In the aftermath of the Khanewal Railway Station bridge collapse, the CEO of Pakistan Railways has also ordered a detailed report on all railway bridges nationwide. Divisional superintendents have been tasked with compiling this data to support a nationwide bridge upgrade programme.Special Eid Trains to Manage Holiday TravelOn the directive of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Pakistan Railways will operate five special trains for Eidul Azha to ease the holiday travel rush. Federal Minister for Railways Hanif Abbasi has approved the schedule for these trains, which will connect major cities.A PR spokesperson said the first special Eid train will depart Karachi for Lahore on June 2 at 1:00 pm. On June 3, a second train will run from Quetta to Peshawar at 10:00 am, followed by a third special train from Lahore to Karachi at 5:00 pm. Later that day, an additional train will leave Karachi for Rawalpindi at 8:00 pm. The fifth and final Eid special train will depart Karachi Cantt on June 4 at 5:30 pm.
