Pakistanis in UK Rally Outside Indian Mission Over Kashmir Tensions

LONDON: A large pro-Pakistan demonstration took place on Saturday outside the Indian High Commission in Aldwych, London, organized by the UK chapter of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).

The protest was staged in response to the April 22 attack in Pahalgam, located in Indian-administered Kashmir, which claimed 26 lives and has since heightened tensions between India and Pakistan. While New Delhi has accused Islamabad of being behind the attack, Pakistan has categorically denied any involvement and has instead called for an independent, transparent investigation.

Waving Pakistani flags and holding placards, protesters chanted slogans such as “Gen Asim Munir Zindabad,” “Pakistan Zindabad,” “Kashmir belongs to Pakistan,” and “We condemn Indian terrorism.” Demonstrators also directed criticism at Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the ideology of Hindutva, with slogans including “Modi is a terrorist” and “Down with Hindutva ideology.”

Addressing the crowd, PML-N UK President Ahsan Dar said the demonstration reflected the deep concern and patriotic spirit of Pakistanis living abroad. “Today, Pakistanis from all over the UK have gathered outside India House to show their unwavering support for Pakistan’s civilian and military leadership,” he stated.

Dar condemned India’s quick attribution of blame to Pakistan for the Pahalgam attack without offering any concrete evidence, calling it a “false flag operation” designed to malign Pakistan on the global stage.

He also emphasized the unity displayed by the diaspora. “On April 25, we confronted Indian protesters in significant numbers. We’re proud that activists from PTI, PML-N, and other groups stood together today in opposition to Indian aggression. This unity shows the strength of our national resolve,” Dar added.

The protest remained peaceful and drew attention from onlookers and local media. London Police maintained a strong but unobtrusive presence to ensure public safety and order throughout the event.
