Four Levies Personnel Martyred in Attack in Khuzdar

Unidentified gunmen target checkpoint along CPEC route

QUETTA: Four Levies personnel were killed in a violent gun attack on a check post in the Nal area of Khuzdar district on Friday. Officials believe the assault was a targeted attack carried out by unidentified armed individuals.

The attack occurred at the Samand Levies check post, located along the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), a vital road link in Balochistan.

Security sources reported that the attackers opened heavy fire on the checkpoint before escaping without being caught.

The fallen personnel were identified as Maqbool, Khuda Bakhsh, Ejaz Ahmed, and Muhammad Ali. Their bodies were taken to the district hospital in Khuzdar. Law enforcement agencies secured the area and launched a search operation to apprehend the assailants.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack so far, though the region has seen an increase in assaults on security forces and infrastructure related to major development projects.

Authorities are investigating the motive behind the attack and have intensified security measures in the vicinity.

Officials strongly condemned the attack, expressed condolences to the families of the martyrs, and vowed to bring the perpetrators to justice while ensuring the safety of the strategic CPEC corridor.
