The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, headed by Maulana Syed Muhammad Abdul Khabeer Azad, will meet in Islamabad on Tuesday to sight the crescent of Zil Hajj 1446 Hijri.
Meanwhile, zonal Ruet-e-Hilal committees will hold separate meetings in their respective areas to observe the moon and confirm the date for Eidul Azha.
According to astronomical data, the new moon of Zil Hajj 1446 AH was born on May 27, 2025, at 8:02 AM PST. At sunset on the same day (29th Ziqad 1446 AH), the new moon’s age was about 11 hours and 34 minutes.
SUPARCO reported that along the country’s coastal areas, there was a 37-minute window between sunset and moonset. However, even under ideal weather conditions, the crescent was unlikely to be visible, even with telescopes.
Consequently, the first day of Zil Hajj is expected to be on May 29, making Eidul Azha likely to be celebrated on June 7.
