KARACHI:
The city is set to endure another scorching day on Thursday, with temperatures expected to soar above 41 degrees Celsius, according to forecasts by the Pakistan Meteorological Department.
On Wednesday, Karachi experienced sweltering conditions, with midday winds and high humidity creating heatwave-like weather. The humidity reached 68%, making the actual temperature of 37.1 degrees Celsius feel more like 42 degrees.
A Meteorological Department spokesperson noted that while sea breezes have been providing some relief, the combination of rising temperatures, persistent humidity of up to 65%, and weaker winds has intensified the heatwave conditions.
The Early Warning Centre has also predicted stronger-than-usual winds on Thursday, but the overall forecast for Karachi remains extremely hot and dry, with maximum temperatures likely to exceed 41°C.
Elsewhere in Sindh, light rain is expected in districts including Ghotki, Kashmore, Shikarpur, Khairpur, Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas, Badin, and Tharparkar. Despite these showers, most parts of the province will continue to see hot to very hot and dry conditions, accompanied by gusty winds.
