Pakistan Will Never Accept Indian Hegemony, Says COAS Field Marshal Munir

ISLAMABAD:Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Asim Munir has firmly reiterated Pakistan’s refusal to accept Indian hegemony, emphasizing that safeguarding the nation’s sovereignty remains non-negotiable.

His remarks come just days after Pakistan decisively responded to India’s recent missile strikes on civilian targets inside Pakistani territory—strikes described as reckless and provocative by Islamabad.Speaking during a comprehensive session with vice chancellors, principals, and senior faculty members from various universities,

Field Marshal Munir highlighted the vital role of educators in shaping Pakistan’s future. However, much of his address focused on Pakistan’s unwavering stance on issues related to Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and broader regional concerns involving India.“Pakistan will never accept Indian hegemony,” the army chief declared, drawing clear lines on issues ranging from the Kashmir dispute to critical water rights.

“Water is Pakistan’s red line, and there will be no compromise on the fundamental rights of 240 million citizens,” he stated.India has announced a suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty (IWT), a 1960 agreement brokered by the World Bank that governs the sharing of the Indus River and its tributaries.

Under the treaty, Pakistan was given rights over the Indus, Jhelum, and Chenab rivers, while India was allotted rights to the Ravi, Beas, and Sutlej rivers.Pakistan, which heavily relies on water from these three rivers, has declared that any attempt by India to stop or divert its share of water will be considered “an act of war.” The country has pledged to use its full national strength to protect its water resources.
