The announcement follows approval from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
The federal government has officially declared a four-day public holiday for Eidul Azha, starting Friday, June 6, and continuing through Monday, June 9.
According to Express News, the Prime Minister gave the green light and confirmed that all government and private offices, educational institutions, and banks nationwide will remain closed during this period.
This decision aligns with the celebration of Eidul Azha, one of Pakistan’s major religious festivals.
The declaration came shortly after the moon sighting on May 27 by the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee. Chairman Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad announced that Eidul Azha will be observed nationwide on June 7.
Eidul Azha also marks the conclusion of Hajj, one of the five pillars of Islam, which every Muslim who is financially able is required to perform.
