The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has announced a nationwide electricity tariff hike of 93 paisas per unit, while granting a significant reduction of Rs 2.99 per unit for consumers in Karachi.According to NEPRA’s official notification, the increased tariff—part of April’s monthly fuel cost adjustment—will be reflected in electricity bills issued in June. The hike, however, will not apply to K-Electric customers, lifeline users, or electric vehicle charging stations. In a separate notification, NEPRA approved a Rs 2.99 per unit decrease in power rates for Karachi, based on the fuel adjustment for March. This reduction will also appear in June’s bills for K-Electric consumers. These adjustments reflect NEPRA’s ongoing efforts to manage electricity pricing across regions, balancing nationwide costs while offering targeted relief to select areas like Karachi.
