Pakistan Reaffirms Commitment to Regional Peace During EU Visit in Brussels

BRUSSELS:
A Pakistani parliamentary delegation, led by Senator Sherry Rehman and Engineer Khurram Dastagir and accompanied by Ambassador Tehmina Janjua, held a key meeting at the European Commission’s Berlaymont headquarters with Lucie Sestakova, Head of Cabinet, and Asia expert Natividad Lorenzo.

During the discussions, the delegation emphasized Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to peace, regional stability, and multilateral cooperation. They warned of the serious humanitarian and legal ramifications of suspending the Indus Waters Treaty, stressing the importance of honoring international agreements and upholding treaty obligations.

The delegation also welcomed the European Union’s continued development cooperation through the Multiannual Indicative Programme (MIP) and the Global Gateway initiative, reaffirming Pakistan’s alignment with shared priorities and its support for collaborative, rules-based international engagement.
