Azhar Mahmood Appointed Interim Red-Ball Head Coach by PCB

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has named Azhar Mahmood as the interim head coach of the national men’s red-ball team. He will serve in this capacity until the conclusion of his current contract.

A former assistant coach of the national side, Mahmood steps into the role with deep familiarity with the team’s structure and dynamics. His extensive coaching experience, combined with a decorated playing career in international cricket and English county competitions, positions him well for the assignment.

Notably, Mahmood’s red-ball credentials include two County Championship titles—an achievement that reflects his strategic acumen, leadership abilities, and commitment to the traditional format of the game.

The PCB expressed confidence in his appointment, stating that Mahmood’s experience and professionalism will play a pivotal role in enhancing the team’s performance, discipline, and consistency on the international stage.
