Arshad Nadeem Secures Gold in Javelin at Asian Athletics Championships

Pakistani star outshines India’s Sachin with a top throw of 86.40m

Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem clinched gold in the men’s javelin final at the 2025 Asian Athletics Championships in Gumi, South Korea, with a powerful throw of 86.40 metres on his final attempt.

Nadeem comfortably defeated runner-up Sachin from India to secure the top podium spot.

Japan’s Yuta Sakiyama claimed the bronze medal with a throw of 83.75 metres, while Sri Lanka’s Rumesh Tharanga Pathirage came in fourth with a best throw of 83.27 metres.

Pakistan’s other participant, Muhammad Yasir, finished eighth, recording a best distance of 75.39 metres.

Nadeem led the final throughout with a series of impressive throws. His third attempt measured 85.57 metres, giving him the early lead, which he further strengthened with an 83.99-metre throw in his fourth attempt.

He capped off his performance with his longest throw of the day—86.40 metres on his final attempt—clinching the gold medal for Pakistan.

This triumph followed his outstanding performance in the qualifying round, where he threw 86.34 metres on his first attempt to secure a spot in the final.

Nadeem’s latest victory adds to his growing collection of international titles, reaffirming his status as one of Asia’s premier javelin throwers.

Last August, Nadeem made history by winning the men’s javelin gold at the Paris Olympics with a record-breaking throw of 92.97 metres.

He was also named Best Asian Athlete by Asian Athletics in recognition of his stellar achievements.

Following this championship, Nadeem will travel to England to begin preparations for the World Athletics Championships in September.
