Bangladesh to Tour Pakistan for Five-Match T20I Series in May

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced on Wednesday that the Bangladesh men’s cricket team will visit Pakistan in May for a five-match T20 International series.

The announcement comes shortly after Pakistan’s recent international campaign against New Zealand, where they suffered defeats in both formats—losing the ODI series 3-0 and the T20I series 4-1.

The ongoing Pakistan Super League is set to conclude on May 18, paving the way for the Bangladesh series.

In a press release, the PCB said the series is part of the ICC’s Future Tours Programme (FTP). It was initially scheduled to include three One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and three T20Is. However, with the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup approaching next year, both cricket boards agreed to swap the ODIs for two additional T20Is.

The T20I series will be held across two venues — Faisalabad and Lahore — from May 25 to June 3.

Venue Details and Schedule

Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad, which recently hosted the Champions One-Day Cup and National T20 Cup, will stage the first two T20Is on May 25 and 27. This marks the return of international cricket to the venue after 17 years. The last international match played there was an ODI between Pakistan and Bangladesh in April 2008.

The remaining three matches — scheduled for May 30, June 1, and June 3 — will take place at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium. All matches will begin at 8 PM.

The Bangladesh team is set to arrive in Pakistan on May 21 and will train at Iqbal Stadium from May 22 to 24 in preparation for the series.

This will be Bangladesh’s first visit to Pakistan since September last year, when they defeated Pakistan 2-0 in a historic Test series whitewash — their first in the format against the hosts.
