Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan held a phone conversation with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to express Turkiye’s solidarity following India’s missile strikes on Pakistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir, according to Reuters.
In the call, Erdogan voiced Turkiye’s backing of Pakistan’s “calm and restrained approach” during the crisis, as stated by his office.
He also supported Islamabad’s call for an investigation into the Pahalgam attack, describing the demand as “appropriate.”
“Erdogan emphasized that Turkiye is prepared to do whatever it can to help prevent further escalation and that his diplomatic efforts in this matter would continue,” the statement added.
Previously, Turkiye had condemned India’s actions, urging both countries to act with restraint and reason. The Turkish Foreign Ministry warned that India’s recent military moves carried the risk of triggering a “full-scale war.”
