Floral Tribute and Special Guard of Honour Mark His Promotion
A special ceremony was held at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi on Wednesday to honour Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir following his elevation to the highest rank in the Pakistan Army.
During the event at Yadgar-e-Shuhada, Field Marshal Munir laid a floral wreath and offered Fateha in remembrance of Pakistan’s martyrs who gave their lives in defense of the nation.
The federal government promoted General Munir to the rank of field marshal in recognition of his exemplary leadership during recent military tensions with India and for successfully leading “Operation Bunyanum Marsoos.”
The Prime Minister’s Office commended his strategic acumen and unwavering resolve in guiding the Pakistan Army and coordinating the country’s defense efforts.
In his remarks, Field Marshal Munir dedicated the honour to the people of Pakistan and paid tribute to the armed forces, law enforcement personnel, and civilian veterans for their continued dedication and sacrifice.
He especially acknowledged the martyrs, praising them as steadfast defenders who stood “like a wall of steel” against Indian aggression.
“This honour is for the entire Pakistani nation and the brave men and women of our Armed Forces,” he said, “especially the martyrs who heroically resisted India’s unprovoked and unlawful aggression.”
