COAS Munir Hosts Dinner Honoring Civil-Military Leadership and Citizens’ Unity in Operation Bunyanum Marsoos
ISLAMABAD: Field Marshal General Syed Asim Munir has expressed his “deep gratitude to the political leadership for their strategic vision” during Marka-e-Haq (The Battle of Truth), Pakistan’s comprehensive military response to India’s aggression earlier this month.
According to a statement from the military’s media wing, the army chief also commended the “seamless coordination among the services that ensured the success of Operation Bunyanum Marsoos (The Formidable Wall).”
Speaking at a dinner he hosted to honor the political leadership, the unwavering resolve of the armed forces, and the remarkable spirit of the Pakistani people throughout the standoff with India, the field marshal emphasized national unity.
This dinner took place a day after General Munir was formally presented with the “Field Marshal Baton” during a ceremony at the Presidency. His promotion to the highest military rank was announced by the Prime Minister’s Office on May 21, citing his “brilliant military leadership, courage, and bravery in safeguarding Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity against the enemy.”
During the dinner, COAS Munir also recognized the “unflinching role of Pakistani youth and the media in countering India’s disinformation campaign, likening them to a ‘steel wall’ against malicious propaganda.”
He further praised the significant contributions of Pakistani scientists, engineers, and diplomats, whose dedication and expertise were vital during the conflict.
The event was attended by President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the deputy prime minister, Senate chairman, National Assembly speaker, federal ministers, governors, chief ministers, the chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, the air and naval chiefs, senior political leaders, high-ranking officials, and senior officers from the three services.

“The participants paid tribute to the wise leadership that guided the nation through a critical period, commended the bravery and sacrifice of the armed forces, and acknowledged the steadfast patriotism of the Pakistani people,” stated the ISPR.

The ISPR further noted, “The evening was a strong testament to national unity and a collective resolve to move forward with greater strength and cohesion.”
