KARACHI – June 19: A major fire that erupted early Wednesday at Millennium Mall on Rashid Minhas Road was successfully brought under control after more than four hours of firefighting, officials confirmed.
According to Chief Fire Officer Humayun Khan, the blaze originated on the rooftop and rapidly spread to the third and fourth floors, where several garment shops are located. Firefighting operations were hindered by a temporary water shortage, causing delays in containment efforts.
A total of 11 fire engines and two snorkels were deployed to tackle the flames. While smaller fires were also reported on the second and first floors, they were quickly managed and did not spread extensively.
Rescue teams confirmed that the roof and third floor suffered extensive damage, impacting both commercial shops and office spaces. Fortunately, no casualties or injuries were reported.
Residents from a nearby apartment complex were safely evacuated as a precaution, though the residential building itself remained unaffected by the blaze.
The fire was fully extinguished after approximately four and a half hours of sustained efforts.
