In a recent statement, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar confirmed that Pakistan’s National Security Adviser (NSA) and India’s NSA have been in direct communication following a sharp escalation of tensions. The escalation occurred after India launched overnight strikes, leading to a retaliatory response from Pakistan.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with TRT World, Dar was asked whether the two NSAs had been in contact amid the rising tensions. He affirmed, saying, “Yes, there has been contact between the two.”
The Pakistani NSA is Lt Gen Muhammad Asim Malik, the Director General of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), while India’s NSA is Ajit Doval. The dialogue between these key figures could be a significant step in preventing further military escalation in the region.
The communication comes at a time of heightened military activity between the two nuclear-armed neighbors, underscoring the importance of diplomatic channels to defuse potential conflict.
