Pakistani actor Hania Aamir has publicly refuted a fabricated statement falsely attributed to her regarding the recent Pahalgam attack in Indian-occupied Kashmir.
The false quote, which circulated widely on social media, wrongly claimed Hania blamed Pakistan’s military for the attack and urged the Indian prime minister to distinguish between civilians and “Islamist terrorists.” It also referenced the banning of Pakistani entertainment in India and appealed against action targeting ordinary citizens.
Taking to Instagram, Hania called the statement “entirely fabricated” and distanced herself from its content. “I did not make this statement, and I do not endorse or align with the words being linked to me,” she wrote. “It misrepresents who I am and what I stand for.”
The actor expressed her condolences for the victims of the April 22 attack, which left 26 people dead, mostly tourists, and stressed the need for compassion over politicisation during such a painful time.
“My heart goes out to the innocent lives lost and the families grieving,” Hania said. “This is a moment for empathy, not for spreading divisive or baseless narratives.”
She further warned against assigning collective blame or making unverified claims, noting, “The actions of extremists cannot define a whole country or its people. Jumping to conclusions without evidence only increases division and hinders the path to healing.”

Hania urged her followers to verify information before sharing it and closed her message with a call for unity and understanding: “Let’s respond with truth, empathy, and solidarity. I remain committed to positivity and respect.”
In the wake of the Pahalgam attack — which India has blamed on Pakistan, a claim strongly denied by Islamabad — several Pakistani celebrities, including Aamir, have had their Instagram accounts blocked in India. The action is part of a broader clampdown on Pakistani digital content following the incident.
