The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has unveiled the 12-member Team of the Tournament for the 10th edition of the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL), with Lahore Qalandars captain Shaheen Shah Afridi earning the captaincy role. The star-studded team was selected by members of the official commentary panel and features standout performers from the tournament, held from April 11 to May 25 across Karachi, Lahore, Multan, and Rawalpindi.
Lahore Qalandars clinched their second consecutive PSL title with a six-wicket win over Quetta Gladiators in the final at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium. Leading the Qalandars to victory, Shaheen Afridi also claimed the Fazal Mahmood Cap for the most wickets in the tournament—19 wickets in 13 matches—further solidifying his leadership credentials.
Joining Afridi in the team are Lahore Qalandars teammates Sikandar Raza, who scored 254 runs and took 10 wickets in 11 matches, and Fakhar Zaman, who amassed 439 runs, including four half-centuries, in 13 matches.
Quetta Gladiators are represented by three players: Hasan Nawaz, the Best Batter of the Tournament with 399 runs in 12 matches (including a century and three fifties), all-rounder Faheem Ashraf (163 runs and 17 wickets), and spinner Abrar Ahmed (17 wickets in 12 matches).
Karachi Kings, who reached the Eliminator 1 after finishing third in the league stage, also have three players in the squad. These include captain David Warner (368 runs in 11 matches), opening partner James Vince (378 runs, one century, three fifties), and fast bowler Hasan Ali (17 wickets in 10 matches).
Sahibzada Farhan of Islamabad United, the recipient of the Hanif Mohammad Cap for being the tournament’s top scorer with 449 runs in 12 matches, is the lone representative from his team.
The emerging player spot is filled by Peshawar Zalmi’s fast bowler Ali Raza, who claimed 12 wickets in nine matches. Rounding off the squad is Karachi Kings’ Khushdil Shah, named as the 12th man after a strong showing with 253 runs and 7 wickets in 11 matches.
Notably, Peshawar Zalmi’s Babar Azam (288 runs) and Multan Sultans’ Mohammad Rizwan (367 runs) missed out on selection despite impressive campaigns.
