The International Cricket Council (ICC) has officially released the schedule for the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025, with India set to host the prestigious event.
The tournament will kick off on 30 September in Bengaluru, where hosts India will face Sri Lanka at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, with the match starting at 3:00 PM local time.
As per the hybrid model agreed between the BCCI and PCB, Pakistan will play all of their matches in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Their much-anticipated clash against arch-rivals India is scheduled for 5 October at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
Historically, India has maintained a perfect record against Pakistan in women’s One Day Internationals, winning all 11 previous encounters, including a dominant 107-run victory in their last World Cup meeting in New Zealand.
Pakistan’s other fixtures include matches against:
- Bangladesh on 2 October
- England on 15 October
- New Zealand on 18 October
- South Africa on 21 October
- Sri Lanka on 24 October
Defending champions Australia begin their campaign against New Zealand on 1 October in Indore, while Pakistan opens their account against Bangladesh the following day in Colombo.
Bengaluru will host its second game on 3 October, where England, runners-up in 2022, will meet South Africa.
The round-robin phase continues through 26 October, ending with a double-header: England vs New Zealand in Guwahati and India vs Bangladesh in Bengaluru.
The semi-finals are slated for 29 and 30 October, followed by the grand finale on 2 November. The top four teams from the league stage will qualify for the semi-finals — with the 1st-placed team taking on the 4th, and the 2nd facing the 3rd.
In total, the tournament comprises 28 league matches and 3 knockout games, played across venues in Bengaluru, Indore, Guwahati, Visakhapatnam, and Colombo.
ICC Chairman Jay Shah expressed his enthusiasm, saying:
“The confirmation of the schedule only builds further excitement and anticipation for the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025. With the eight best teams in the women’s game descending on India, alongside incredible venues and what promises to be record-breaking crowds, we are all looking forward to an unforgettable tournament.”
