ISLAMABAD / MUZAFFARABAD – Pakistan has strongly rejected recent Indian media reports alleging cross-border drone activity by Pakistan near the Line of Control (LoC), labeling the accusations as “false, fabricated, and baseless.” Security sources have reiterated that not a single Pakistani drone has entered Indian airspace, calling the claims part of a sustained disinformation campaign by New Delhi.
While India accuses Pakistan of violating the ceasefire, officials in Islamabad contend that it is, in fact, India that has repeatedly breached the agreement. “Pakistan has fully adhered to the ceasefire terms, while Indian drones and unprovoked shelling continue to violate the LoC and the Working Boundary,” the sources stated.
These tensions have escalated following a deadly attack in Pahalgam in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. India blamed Pakistan-based elements without presenting evidence and launched missile strikes on Pakistani territory, which Islamabad categorically denied.
In response, Pakistan launched Operation Bunyanum Marsoos, a powerful military counteroffensive during which the Pakistan Armed Forces struck 26 Indian military sites. According to DG ISPR Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, Pakistani drones also hovered over key Indian cities, including New Delhi.
Despite a temporary de-escalation brokered through U.S. mediation—culminating in a renewed ceasefire agreement and DGMOs-level talks—Pakistan maintains that India continues to violate the ceasefire, including the dissemination of disinformation to shift focus from its own aggressive actions.
Fresh Ceasefire Breach Claims Life in Azad Jammu and Kashmir
In the latest instance of aggression, Indian forces late Sunday night carried out unprovoked shelling across the LoC, targeting civilian areas in the Nakyal sector of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK). According to State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) Director General Sardar Waheed Khan, the shelling lasted 40 minutes and involved both light and heavy weapons.
A 32-year-old local resident, Muhammad Shahid, sustained critical injuries from mortar shrapnel in the village of Bari Dhara Mathrani and later succumbed to his wounds at the District Headquarters Hospital in Kotli. A brief shelling episode was also reported in the Haveli district.
Shahid’s death brought the total civilian casualties from recent Indian hostilities to 32, with 123 others injured across multiple districts including Kotli, Bhimber, Poonch, Muzaffarabad, Neelum, Haveli, and Bagh.
AJK Leadership Condemns Indian Aggression, Commends Armed Forces
Visiting forward posts in the Barnala sector, AJK Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwarul Haq praised the Pakistan Army’s professional response during Operation Bunyanum Marsoos, stating that it had successfully deterred Indian aggression. He lauded both the army and air force for defending the nation’s sovereignty and commended the resilience of the AJK population.
The AJK government has already begun compensating affected families within 24 hours of incidents, and Haq pledged to personally visit all LoC-affected areas to ensure swift relief and rehabilitation efforts. During his visit, he distributed compensation cheques and offered condolences to bereaved families, receiving a warm welcome with chants supporting Pakistan and the armed forces.
Meanwhile, AJK President Barrister Sultan Mahmood condemned the deliberate targeting of civilians by Indian forces, calling it a “blatant act of frustration.” He urged the government and relief agencies to ensure immediate assistance, including continuous medical care for the injured.
Schools Reopen Amid Tensions
Following a brief closure due to hostilities, the AJK government announced the reopening of all educational institutions from Tuesday. A revised examination schedule will be issued by the AJK Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education in Mirpur.
Despite ongoing violations and heightened tensions, Pakistan has reiterated its commitment to peace and regional stability, while reserving the right to defend its sovereignty in the face of continued Indian provocations.
