The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has issued a stern warning to all IPL stakeholders regarding a businessman from Hyderabad who has been attempting to manipulate individuals into engaging in illegal activities. The BCCI has alerted cricketers, coaches, support staff, and commentators about potential approaches from this individual, who is believed to have connections with bookies, according to a Cricbuzz report. The Anti-Corruption Security Unit (ACSU) has raised concerns over his efforts to establish ties with people involved in the IPL, with reports suggesting that he lures them with expensive gifts.
One reported method he uses is approaching family members of franchise owners, players, coaches, support staff, and even commentators, in an attempt to build relationships.
In other IPL news, ahead of their clash with Rajasthan Royals (RR), the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have welcomed back right-arm pacer Mayank Yadav to the squad. Mayank, who has been recovering from a back injury, is set to join the team for their upcoming match against RR in Jaipur, as per an ESPN Cricinfo report. His return is a significant boost for LSG, who had been without him at the start of the tournament.
The Lucknow franchise shared a video on social media showing Mayank’s warm reception by the hotel staff at the team’s destination, where he also signed autographs for everyone. The 22-year-old bowler had been sidelined since October 2024, following his international debut in a series against Bangladesh. He missed the entire domestic season due to the injury and has since recovered at the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru.
Just ten days ago, LSG head coach Justin Langer mentioned that Mayank was operating at “90 to 95 percent” of his fitness and would soon be joining the team.
