Israel Launches Airstrikes on Yemen’s Hodeidah After Port Warnings

Israel carried out airstrikes in Yemen’s Hodeidah province following an evacuation warning issued to residents near three Red Sea ports — Ras Isa, Hodeidah, and Salif — according to the Houthi-controlled interior ministry.

The Israeli military has not yet released an official statement regarding the operation. However, the warning suggested that the targeted ports were being used by Iranian-backed Houthi forces to support military activities.

The airstrikes come just days after a missile launched from Yemeni territory was intercepted en route to Israel. Tensions in the region have continued to escalate amid a broader conflict involving Houthi forces, who claim their attacks on Israel and shipping routes in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden are in solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza.

Nasruddin Amer, head of the Houthi-run Saba news agency, denied that any Israeli strikes had taken place on the ports.

The latest developments unfold ahead of a scheduled visit to the Middle East by U.S. President Donald Trump. In March, Trump authorized renewed military strikes against Houthi strongholds across Yemen but later agreed to a ceasefire brokered by Oman. However, Houthi officials have stated that the truce does not include hostilities involving Israel.

Despite the ceasefire, Houthi forces have continued to launch drones and missiles toward Israel and have targeted commercial vessels in critical international waters.

Earlier this week, President Trump announced that the Houthis had agreed to stop interfering with global shipping routes, though the situation on the ground remains volatile.

Israel has previously launched several retaliatory strikes on Houthi positions in Yemen in response to continued threats from the group.
