Nawaz Sharif, Dar, Fazlur Rehman, and Others Praise Armed Forces
ISLAMABAD: Following a significant military and diplomatic breakthrough, Pakistan’s political and religious leadership celebrated what they described as a historic moment for the nation, after a ceasefire agreement with India was reached in the wake of a robust military response that compelled New Delhi to step back.
The unity came after Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos, launched shortly after Pakistan downed five Indian fighter jets, including four Rafales, solidifying its military standing. The operation followed a tense night marked by unprovoked Indian strikes attempting to hit Pakistan Air Force installations.
PML-N leader and former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, known for advocating peaceful ties with India, took to social media platform X to commend the leadership and armed forces:
“Praise be to Allah for elevating Pakistan’s status. Congratulations to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir, Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, and our armed forces. Pakistan desires peace, but knows how to defend itself. Pakistan Zindabad!”
Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar also confirmed the ceasefire in a post, stating:
“Pakistan and India have agreed to an immediate ceasefire. Pakistan remains committed to peace in the region without compromising its sovereignty.”
He credited US Secretary of State Marco Rubio for facilitating the agreement.
Jamaat-e-Islami chief Hafiz Naeemur Rehman called the ceasefire proof of national resolve.
“This shows that faith, unity, and the spirit of jihad have unified the Pakistani nation,” he said. “Now is the time to pursue the Kashmir cause with full diplomatic force, as per UN resolutions. No compromise will be accepted.”
He also demanded that the Indus Waters Treaty—unilaterally suspended by India following the Pahalgam incident—be fully enforced.
JUI-F head Maulana Fazlur Rehman attributed the success to divine support and national unity:
“Pakistan has emerged with honour due to Allah’s help and the nation’s resilience. The India-Israel plot to ignite regional conflict has failed.”
He expressed gratitude to Saudi Arabia and allied nations for their support and called for continued political unity and strong defence.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz shared her pride on X:
“Pakistan has triumphed! Alhamdulillah! PM Shehbaz Sharif, the armed forces, and Nawaz Sharif have proven Pakistan’s defence is unbreakable. The nation is secure in patriotic hands.”
Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb echoed similar sentiments:
“Pakistanis salute the bravery and professionalism of our armed forces, and stand united with our Prime Minister’s courageous leadership.”
She credited Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos for showcasing Pakistan’s strategic strength and discipline.
Aurangzeb also applauded the Pakistani media for acting responsibly, unlike Indian outlets, which she accused of spreading disinformation.
“The maturity shown by our media upheld our national narrative and revealed the truth to the world, even as international media exposed India’s propaganda.”
She concluded by affirming national unity:
“Our leadership, armed forces, media, and people are one. Pakistan is strong. Pakistan is proud. Pakistan Zindabad!”
