The second season of Peacemaker is officially set to premiere on Max on August 21, 2025, with John Cena reprising his fan-favorite role. Alongside the release date announcement, Max has dropped a brand-new trailer teasing familiar faces and exciting new DC cameos.
The trailer opens with Peacemaker (Chris Smith), played by Cena, facing an interrogation by Justice League members Guy Gardner (Green Lantern), Hawkgirl, and Maxwell Lord. Peacemaker confidently brags about his deadly aim and combat abilities, calling himself “the finest marksman in the world.” But his arrogance is quickly undercut by the team, with Green Lantern dryly commenting, “This guy sucks.” The playful exchange hints at the blend of humor and high-octane action fans can expect this season.
Season 2 picks up as Chris Smith continues to wrestle with his troubled past while embracing his role as a chaotic, peace-obsessed vigilante. As always, his mission to eliminate wrongdoers leads to plenty of explosive — and often messy — consequences.
Returning alongside Cena are Danielle Brooks, Jennifer Holland, Freddie Stroma, Steve Agee, and Robert Patrick. New additions to the cast include Frank Grillo, David Denman, Sol Rodriguez, and Tim Meadows. The eight-episode season is penned entirely by series creator James Gunn, who also steps behind the camera to direct three episodes, including the premiere.
This new season is part of Gunn’s reimagined DC Universe, which kicked off with Creature Commandos and will continue with the upcoming Superman film. The introduction of Nathan Fillion’s Guy Gardner and Isabel Merced’s Hawkgirl hints at deeper connections to future DC projects.
Peacemaker Season 2 will debut on Max on August 21 at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
