National Assembly Commends Armed Forces for Professionalism and Restraint

The National Assembly of Pakistan unanimously adopted a resolution commending the country’s armed forces for their outstanding professionalism, vigilance, and bravery in defending the nation’s sovereignty amid unprovoked aggression from India, according to Radio Pakistan.

The resolution, introduced by Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar, praised the military for showing “remarkable restraint and responsibility,” calling their response to Indian actions “measured and appropriate.”

Following a deadly incident in Pahalgam, located in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), India launched missile attacks targeting Pakistani military installations. In response, the Pakistan Armed Forces initiated ‘Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos.’

The National Assembly also paid tribute to the soldiers who lost their lives, recognizing their sacrifices as enduring symbols of national pride, resilience, and unity. Lawmakers observed a moment of prayer, expressing gratitude to Almighty Allah for the honor bestowed upon the nation in defending its territorial integrity.

Additionally, the resolution congratulated the people of Pakistan for demonstrating political unity during the crisis and extended appreciation to allied nations for their support during this critical period.

Reaffirming its commitment to peace in the region and the world, the resolution emphasized that democracies prefer dialogue over conflict, asserting that lasting peace in South Asia depends on “genuine and structured negotiations.”

The Assembly urged the international community to actively engage in resolving the Jammu and Kashmir issue in line with the aspirations of the Kashmiri people and relevant UN Security Council resolutions. It also highlighted the significance of the Indus Waters Treaty, viewing water security as an essential part of national defense.

Parliament pledged to continue fulfilling its constitutional duty to uphold peace, unity, and the protection of national interests.

The resolution followed intense cross-border military exchanges that had raised concerns of escalating into a broader conflict. However, both Pakistan and India agreed to a full and immediate ceasefire after diplomatic intervention by U.S. President Donald Trump.
