Pakistan’s Noor Zaman has secured a spot in the main draw of the British Open Squash Championship, marking another strong showing in his professional career.
The current World Under-23 Squash Champion clinched his place in the prestigious tournament in England by defeating Egypt’s Kareem El Torkey 11-5, 11-8, 3-11, 11-7 in a 46-minute qualifying final.
Prior to this, Zaman overcame England’s Will Salter 3-1 (10-12, 11-2, 11-5, 11-3) in a 42-minute match and then secured a hard-fought 3-1 victory over Adrian Waller (9-11, 11-6, 11-7, 14-12) in an intense 59-minute contest.
Seeded 10th in the qualifiers, Zaman becomes the first Pakistani to reach the British Open main draw since 2022.
He is set to face England’s Curtis Malik in the opening round on Sunday.
Tayyab Aslam was the last Pakistani player to feature in the British Open main draw in 2022.
Pakistan boasts the highest number of British Open titles — 30 in total — with 10 of those won by the legendary Jahangir Khan.
Zaman’s consistent performances highlight his growing stature in the international squash scene.
