In response to Indian airstrikes, Pakistan has declared an air emergency and suspended flight operations at several major airports across the country, according to Express News.
Early Wednesday morning, authorities placed airports in Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore, Multan, Faisalabad, Skardu, and Peshawar on high alert, activating emergency protocols nationwide.
Islamabad International Airport was put under red alert and its airspace was closed to all commercial flights. The sudden closure disrupted operations, forcing three incoming flights—including services from Qatar Airways, Saudi Arabian Airlines, and a private airline—to be rerouted to Peshawar and other nearby airports.
Officials say the heightened security measures were prompted by concerns over potential further aggression from India. In Rawalpindi, residents reported Pakistan Air Force jets actively patrolling the skies, with loud aircraft noises heard throughout the area.
The air emergency reflects the growing tensions between the two countries, with Pakistan reinforcing its air defenses and aviation security infrastructure in anticipation of further escalation.
