Federal Minister for Information Attaullah Tarar on Sunday led a delegation of local and international journalists to the Line of Control (LoC), aiming to counter Indian claims of “terrorist infrastructure” operating from Pakistani soil.
The visit, organized by the Ministry of Information, was part of Islamabad’s broader effort to confront what it calls a misinformation campaign by New Delhi. Journalists were shown areas specifically named by India as alleged militant camps—locations that, according to Pakistani officials, have been routinely misrepresented in Indian narratives.
Instead of militant activity, the media saw peaceful civilian life: residential homes, local markets, and public spaces—evidence that directly contradicted India’s claims. Journalists interacted with local residents, who offered testimonies that further challenged the notion of any militant presence.
Speaking to reporters during the visit, Minister Tarar firmly rejected Indian accusations. “India has made baseless allegations time and again. Today, we’ve shown the world the truth. These are not terrorist camps—they are thriving civilian communities,” he said.
Tarar underscored Pakistan’s position as a responsible state committed to peace, both regionally and globally. “We condemn terrorism in all its forms, anywhere in the world,” he stated, while also warning that any threat to Pakistan’s sovereignty would be met with a firm response.
He also accused India of using the LoC narrative to deflect attention from its internal failures and human rights abuses in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). “This LoC propaganda is nothing but a distraction from the ongoing repression in Kashmir and domestic turmoil inside India,” he added. “But today, international and national media have seen the ground reality with their own eyes.”
The high-profile media visit follows heightened tensions between India and Pakistan after the April 22 attack on tourists in IIOJK, which India blamed on Pakistan without offering concrete evidence. Pakistan has consistently denied the accusations and called for an impartial international investigation.
Meanwhile, sources revealed that Pakistan’s armed forces have assured political leadership of full readiness to defend the nation. This assurance came during an in-camera briefing arranged by the government, where Minister Tarar and Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry updated key political figures on the security situation following the Pahalgam incident.
The move to bring media to the LoC signals Pakistan’s intent to counter Indian narratives through transparency and international engagement, aiming to shift global perceptions amid rising regional tensions.
