Pakistan Responds to India’s Statements, Calls for Peace and Resolution on Kashmir

Pakistan on Monday strongly condemned recent remarks by Indian officials, describing them as indicative of a hostile and dangerous attitude that threatens regional peace.

The response from Pakistan’s Foreign Office came after India’s Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson said on May 29 that talks on Kashmir would only take place if Pakistan “hands over Azad Jammu and Kashmir” to India.

Foreign Office spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan dismissed attempts to blame Pakistan for regional instability as detached from reality. “The international community is fully aware of India’s aggressive actions, including well-documented support for terrorism inside Pakistan,” he stated.

“These facts cannot be obscured by baseless accusations or diversionary tactics,” Khan added.

Reaffirming Pakistan’s stance, he emphasized that the Kashmir dispute remains a major obstacle to peace in South Asia.

Islamabad, he said, will persist in advocating for a just and lasting solution based on UN Security Council resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.

Khan noted that India’s remarks once again reveal the futility of pursuing goals through nationalism and coercion. “Threats and aggression will not help India achieve its objectives,” he remarked.

While reaffirming Pakistan’s dedication to constructive dialogue and peaceful engagement, the spokesperson also stressed that the country is fully prepared to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity.

He concluded by stating that sustainable peace in the region can only be achieved through seriousness, restraint, and addressing the underlying causes of the conflict.
