Pakistan, UAE Reaffirm Strategic Partnership and Regional Peace Efforts During Shehbaz’s Visit

ABU DHABI – June 13, 2025:
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif concluded a one-day official visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Thursday, during which he held wide-ranging talks with UAE President and Ruler of Abu Dhabi, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The visit underscored the strong and enduring ties between the two brotherly nations, built on mutual trust, shared values, and decades of cooperation.

During the high-level meeting, both leaders discussed bilateral relations and regional and global developments. Prime Minister Shehbaz expressed deep appreciation for the UAE’s constructive role in promoting peace and stability across the region, particularly highlighting the country’s efforts in easing recent tensions between Pakistan and India.

“I appreciate the UAE’s positive role in promoting peace, dialogue, and stability in the region,” said the Prime Minister, echoing sentiments he later shared in a post on X. “Our deep-rooted ties built on trust and brotherhood continue to grow stronger, especially in trade and investment. I look forward to welcoming His Highness to Pakistan soon.”

The talks reaffirmed both countries’ shared commitment to strengthening cooperation in key areas and advancing mutual goals of regional peace and prosperity. The Prime Minister also reiterated his earlier invitation for Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed to undertake an official visit to Pakistan.

The meeting was attended by top Pakistani officials, including Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Information Minister Ataullah Tarar, and Special Assistant to the PM Tariq Fatemi.

Regional Diplomacy in Focus

The UAE visit is part of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s ongoing diplomatic outreach aimed at reinforcing regional ties and strategic partnerships. Last week, the Prime Minister concluded a two-day visit to Saudi Arabia, where he held talks with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. Both leaders agreed to elevate the strategic partnership between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia in line with the aspirations of their peoples and mutual goals for regional development.

Earlier in May, the Prime Minister also visited Turkiye, Iran, Azerbaijan, and Tajikistan. That multi-nation tour focused on consolidating Pakistan’s regional diplomacy and expressing gratitude to leaders for their support during the recent Pakistan-India crisis. The visit concluded in Tajikistan, where the Prime Minister participated in the International Conference on Glaciers, reinforcing Pakistan’s commitment to climate cooperation.

According to the Foreign Office, these diplomatic engagements reflect Pakistan’s broader objective to bolster strategic partnerships, enhance economic collaboration, and build solidarity within the region.

Pakistan’s Digital Ambitions Highlighted at London Tech Week

In a separate address on Thursday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also lauded Pakistan’s active participation in London Tech Week 2025, showcasing the country’s growing presence in the global digital arena. Speaking at the event, the Prime Minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to digital transformation, innovation, and youth empowerment.

“Our presence at such an important global platform reflects Pakistan’s growing digital footprint and ambition. We are positioning ourselves as a forward-looking, tech-savvy nation,” he stated.

He congratulated the Ministry of IT, Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB), Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP), and tech entrepreneurs for presenting Pakistan with vision and purpose on the world stage. “Pakistan’s tech future is bright — InshaAllah,” he concluded.
