Pakistan’s Noor Zaman and Nasir Iqbal booked their spot in the knockout stage of the Asian Doubles Squash Championship after topping Group B with an impressive victory over Chinese Taipei.
The pair cruised past Chi Yu-Wei and Chen Ching-Fu in straight games, winning 11–2, 11–9 in just 11 minutes to finish the group stage unbeaten. Their win set up a quarterfinal clash against South Korea later the same day.
Zaman and Iqbal began their campaign on Monday with two dominant performances—first defeating South Korea 11–4, 11–1, and then overcoming the Philippines 11–7, 11–4.
Their flawless run saw Pakistan secure first place in a group that also featured Singapore alongside South Korea, the Philippines, and Chinese Taipei.
The tournament format includes round-robin matches during the opening two days, with knockout rounds commencing on 25 June. The finals in the men’s, women’s, and mixed doubles categories are slated for 26 June.
The Pakistani squad, under the guidance of coach Fahim Gul and contingent manager Amir Nawaz, is aiming to carry this momentum into the knockout stage in Kuching.
