Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday expressed his appreciation for the peaceful and orderly observance of Youm-e-Ashur across Pakistan, crediting the success to the coordinated efforts of provincial governments and law enforcement agencies.
In a statement, the premier noted that the smooth conduct of Ashura processions was the result of “effective and professional planning” by provincial authorities and security forces.
During a meeting in Lahore, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi briefed the prime minister on the nationwide security arrangements implemented during the religious observance. Naqvi outlined the steps taken to ensure public safety and the facilitation of mourners.
PM Shehbaz commended the chief ministers of Punjab (Maryam Nawaz), Sindh (Murad Ali Shah), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (Ali Amin Gandapur), and Balochistan (Mir Sarfraz Bugti), along with Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Chaudhry Anwarul Haq and Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Minister Gulbar Khan, for ensuring robust security measures in their respective regions.
He also praised the contributions of the police, Rangers, provincial administrations, and security personnel for maintaining law and order throughout the country.
The prime minister further commended Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi for efficiently overseeing the federal coordination efforts, calling his role in the Ashura arrangements “commendable.”
“The collaborative efforts of all stakeholders ensured the peaceful conduct of Ashura processions nationwide,” Sharif said, expressing gratitude to all involved.
