Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos Demonstrated Pakistan’s Strength and Strategic Resolve, Says PM
President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday paid tribute to Pakistan’s armed forces and civilians who lost their lives during recent Indian military actions. Both leaders emphasized national unity and reiterated Pakistan’s determination to safeguard its sovereignty.
President Zardari strongly condemned what he called “India’s blatant aggression,” stating that the violence had only deepened the resolve of the Pakistani people. “We take immense pride in the sacrifices of our martyrs,” he said, highlighting the role of Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos in “breaking the enemy’s arrogance.”
He extended condolences to the families of those killed, including women and children, and wished a speedy recovery to the injured. “Pakistan’s people and armed forces stand ready to counter any aggression and will respond decisively to any threat to our national security,” he added.
In a separate message, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised the military’s robust response, saying the armed forces had “honored their commitment” to protect the nation and had effectively countered Indian aggression.
“Our sovereignty and territorial integrity remain intact,” he stated. “Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos sent a clear message to India: respect the sovereignty of other nations.”
The prime minister honored the sacrifices of five Pakistan Air Force personnel and six Army officers and soldiers, while also mourning the deaths of 40 civilians, including 15 children and seven women.
“We will never forget our martyrs or abandon their families,” Sharif affirmed. He also confirmed the launch of a government-supported Martyrs’ Package to support the bereaved.
“Pakistan is a peace-loving nation, but we are fully capable of defending ourselves,” he added, calling the operation a clear testament to the country’s preparedness and resolve.
Both leaders emphasized the importance of national unity in confronting external threats and reaffirmed their commitment to defending Pakistan’s territorial integrity and ensuring the safety of its citizens.
Indian Strikes Claim 51 Lives, Says ISPR
According to a statement by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), at least 51 individuals—including 40 civilians and 11 military personnel—were martyred in unprovoked Indian attacks targeting Azad Jammu and Kashmir and other parts of Pakistan on the night of May 6 and 7.
The ISPR reported that Indian forces deliberately shelled civilian areas, causing widespread casualties. Among the 40 civilians killed were seven women and 15 children. An additional 121 people were wounded, including 10 women and 27 children.
Eleven Pakistani military personnel were killed in action while defending the region, and 78 others were injured.
“The armed forces delivered a precise and calibrated response,” the ISPR statement noted, underscoring the military’s resolve and measured retaliation.
