The Christian community is celebrating Easter today with great devotion, reverence, and religious fervor.
To ensure the safety of worshippers, security personnel have been stationed at churches across the country, with walk-through gates and CCTV cameras installed. Easter services are scheduled to take place between 9:00 AM and 12:00 PM.
President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif both extended their heartfelt greetings to the Christian community in Pakistan and around the world on the occasion of Easter, recognizing their valuable contributions to national development and calling for unity and harmony among different faiths.
In his message, President Zardari described Easter as a time of hope, renewal, and celebration of life. “It reminds us of compassion, sacrifice, and forgiveness. The Christian community has always played a significant role in Pakistan’s progress. We deeply appreciate their contributions in education, healthcare, social welfare, and public service,” he said.
Zardari reaffirmed that Pakistan’s Constitution guarantees the rights of minorities and reiterated the government’s commitment to their uplift and empowerment.
“We are proud of their dedication to peace, harmony, and coexistence in society,” he added.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also extended his warmest wishes to the Christian community, highlighting the significance of Easter as a symbol of faith and renewal. “Easter reminds us of the enduring power of faith and the teachings of Jesus Christ, whose message of compassion and love continues to inspire humanity,” he said.
The Prime Minister praised the Christian community for its historical contributions to the creation of Pakistan and its ongoing role in the country’s socio-economic development. He expressed his hope that Christians would continue to play an active role in shaping a united and inclusive Pakistan.
Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah also congratulated the Christian community on Easter, noting, “Easter teaches us mutual respect and love. Christian citizens have played a key role in Pakistan’s development. We respect all minorities and believe that love and harmony lead to national progress.”
