Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extends Eid greetings in calls with world leaders

PM Shehbaz emphasizes regional peace, Muslim unity, and bilateral cooperation during Eid conversations

On the occasion of Eidul Azha, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif engaged in telephone discussions with various world leaders, reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to regional peace, unity within the Muslim Ummah, and strengthening bilateral relations.

In a call with Malaysian Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim on Saturday, both leaders exchanged Eid greetings and highlighted the need to enhance cooperation in trade, investment, and cultural ties. PM Shehbaz appreciated Malaysia’s “balanced stance” during the recent Pakistan-India crisis.

“Pakistan was compelled to respond firmly to India’s aggression,” Shehbaz stated, noting that Islamabad accepted a US-mediated ceasefire in the interest of regional stability. He reiterated Pakistan’s willingness to hold dialogue with India on all outstanding issues, including Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

In a separate call, PM Shehbaz also conveyed Eid greetings to Tajik President Emomali Rahmon, thanking Tajikistan for its support for peace during heightened Pakistan-India tensions. President Rahmon praised Pakistan’s efforts toward regional stability.

Shehbaz Sharif spoke with Qatar’s Amir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, expressing gratitude for Doha’s “constructive role” in easing the recent crisis. Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to boosting economic cooperation and exploring new opportunities for trade and investment.

The Prime Minister also exchanged greetings with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, thanking him for the warm hospitality during his recent visit to Lachin for Azerbaijan’s Independence Day and the trilateral summit with Turkey. They reaffirmed strong bilateral ties and discussed deepening cooperation ahead of the upcoming ECO Summit in Azerbaijan and President Aliyev’s planned visit to Islamabad later this year.

PM Shehbaz also extended Eid wishes to Kuwait’s Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah. He expressed appreciation for Kuwait’s balanced and supportive stance amid recent tensions between Pakistan and India and reiterated Pakistan’s consistent desire for peace and regional stability. The two leaders emphasized enhancing bilateral trade, investment, and economic ties. The Crown Prince acknowledged the important contributions of the Pakistani community in Kuwait and pledged to strengthen relations further.

In a series of calls aimed at reinforcing diplomatic relations, PM Shehbaz continued efforts to boost Pakistan’s foreign ties.

This follows his recent visit to Saudi Arabia, where he met Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. Both leaders agreed to elevate the strategic partnership between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, reflecting the shared vision of their leadership and peoples. They also reaffirmed their commitment to deepening multifaceted cooperation.

Last week, PM Shehbaz concluded a diplomatic tour of four countries to strengthen regional partnerships amid tensions with India. The tour allowed him to personally thank these nations for their support during the recent escalation, focusing on reinforcing bilateral relations and promoting peace, with appreciation for their role in de-escalating the conflict.
