PTI Founder Imran Khan Again Declines Polygraph Test in May 9 Riots Probe

RAWALPINDI:
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder and former prime minister Imran Khan has once again refused to take a polygraph test, citing constitutional protection against self-incrimination. This marks the fourth time he has declined the test requested by the Lahore police in connection with the May 9 riots investigation.

On Monday, a police team led by DSP Asif Javed arrived at Adiala Jail to conduct a polygraph test, photogrammetric analysis, and voice-matching test as part of investigations into 11 cases registered in Lahore following the May 9 riots.

The team included members of the Punjab Forensic Unit—Inspectors Muhammad Aslam, Tasaduq, Saleem, and Naveed—and technical expert Abid Ayub.

According to sources, the jail administration informed Imran Khan about the arrival of the investigation team, who carried a court order. However, Imran Khan refused to participate in the tests once again.

Previously, Imran Khan had conditioned his participation on the presence of his legal team. Even though the team returned with his lawyers, he submitted a written statement to the investigators citing Article 13 of the Constitution, which protects him from being compelled to provide evidence against himself.

Sources said that the investigation has stalled due to the repeated refusals, as these tests are crucial for verifying the allegations against him.

Despite waiting for four hours at the jail, the investigation team eventually returned to Lahore after Imran Khan maintained his refusal.
