Russia criticized Israel’s conduct in the occupied Palestinian territories during a hearing at the International Court of Justice (ICJ), stating that its actions are creating a “crisis of legality and humanity,” according to Al Jazeera.
Representing Russia, Maksim Musikhin said Israel was systematically weakening the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) and ignoring its international legal responsibilities as an occupying power.
“The urgency of the situation cannot be overstated. Gaza is teetering on the edge of famine. Hospitals have been reduced to rubble,” Musikhin told the court.
He further warned that Israel’s complete blockade of Gaza since March 2, along with renewed military operations, has resulted in widespread devastation and what he called a “humanitarian catastrophe of unprecedented scale.”
