Pakistan all-rounder Shadab Khan is set to undergo surgery on his right shoulder in the United Kingdom, local media reported, potentially sidelining him for up to three months.
The 26-year-old has been dealing with ongoing shoulder discomfort, and after thorough medical evaluation, surgery was deemed necessary. He is expected to depart for the UK shortly to undergo the procedure.
This development comes just ahead of Pakistan’s upcoming three-match T20I series against Bangladesh, scheduled to begin later in July. Shadab, who last played in the opening T20I against Bangladesh on May 28 in Lahore, will now miss the series.
The Pakistan Cricket Board is likely to announce the squad for the tour later this week. While major changes are not expected, reports suggest that left-arm spinner Sufiyan Muqeem could earn his maiden call-up.
Preparations for the Bangladesh series will commence with a training camp from July 7 at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi. However, several senior players — including Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, and Shaheen Shah Afridi — remain out of contention for now, with no official word on their return.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board has confirmed that all three T20Is will be played at Dhaka’s Shere-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, with each match set to begin at 5:00 PM PST. Pakistan’s squad is scheduled to arrive in Dhaka on July 16, with matches slated for July 20, 22, and 24.
Pakistan previously faced Bangladesh in May this year, securing a 3-0 sweep on home soil. As they prepare for the upcoming tour, Shadab’s absence will be deeply felt — both as a key bowler and an experienced figure in the lineup.
