Following the Economic Cooperation Organisation (ECO) Summit in Khankendi, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev were seen taking a leisurely walk together, highlighting the strong trilateral ties among Pakistan, Türkiye, and Azerbaijan.
According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office, President Aliyev personally guided his counterparts through Khankendi, sharing insights about the city’s historic landmarks and cultural significance. The informal stroll included warm conversation and a symbolic moment of unity when all three leaders clasped hands—visibly affirming the brotherhood and solidarity between the three nations.
Later, in a notable display of hospitality, President Aliyev drove PM Shehbaz Sharif himself to the city of Shusha for a luncheon.
Major Investment Agreement Signed
On the sidelines of the summit, Pakistan and Azerbaijan also reached a landmark investment agreement, paving the way for a $2 billion Azerbaijani investment in Pakistan’s economy. The agreement was witnessed by PM Shehbaz Sharif, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, and Azerbaijan’s Economy Minister Mikayil Jabbarov.
This development follows high-level talks between PM Shehbaz and President Aliyev, and lays the groundwork for a comprehensive memorandum of understanding, expected to be formalised during President Aliyev’s upcoming visit to Pakistan.
The walk, the investment deal, and the shared gestures of camaraderie together marked a significant chapter in the growing strategic and economic cooperation between the three nations.
