Stars Triumph Over Conquerers to Claim National Women’s T20 Title

KARACHI: Sidra Amin’s Stars secured the National Women’s T20 Tournament title in emphatic fashion, defeating Fatima Sana’s Conquerers by 42 runs in the final at the National Bank Stadium on Saturday.

Batting first, Stars posted 135 for 5, driven by opener Sana Urooj’s quickfire 44 off 37 balls. They then bowled out the Conquerers for 93 with just two deliveries left, with Anosha Nasir taking 3 for 14 to lead the attack.

Sana Urooj and Anosha Nasir were named joint players of the final.

Sana Urooj laid the foundation with seven boundaries and was involved in crucial partnerships: 33 runs for the opening wicket with Huraina Sajjad (23) and 47 for the third wicket with Kaynat Hafeez (21).

Kaynat anchored the innings with a patient 35-ball effort that included a single six, but her stand with Sana was ended by Nashra Sandhu, who took 2 for 21.

In the closing overs, Sidra Amin and Sidra Nawaz provided the finishing touches. Captain Sidra Amin smashed four boundaries in her 13-ball 18, while Sidra Nawaz contributed a run-a-ball 15.

The Conquerers’ chase faltered early, losing half their side with only 80 on the board. Anosha Nasir and Waheeda Akhtar (2 for 17) wrapped up the innings as the last five wickets fell cheaply.

Dua Majid (29), Najiha Alvi (21), and Syeda Aroob Shah (14) were the only batters to reach double figures. Najiha and Aroob shared a 30-run stand for the fifth wicket but couldn’t prevent the collapse.

For their stellar performances throughout the tournament, Sidra Amin (346 runs in 10 matches) and Sidra Nawaz (15 dismissals and 150 runs) were recognized as the best batter and best wicket-keeper, respectively.

Anosha Nasir shared the best bowler honor with Rameen Shamim of the Challengers, who claimed a tournament-best 16 wickets.
