Islamabad — Pakistan’s state broadcaster PTV News has firmly rejected circulating rumors of an attack on Lahore, emphasizing that no such incident has occurred and that the country has not lost any military aircraft.
In a series of social media posts on X (formerly Twitter), PTV News warned the public against falling for false reports, particularly those being spread by Indian social media accounts. These misleading posts, some captioned “India attacked Pakistan Lahore” and “Breaking News From Pakistan Lahore,” had gone viral, causing public concern.
At 10:10 p.m., PTV News issued a statement cautioning citizens: “Enemy media outlets are spreading fake news of Lahore being attacked. No such event has been reported by concerned authorities or official government channels. Please be aware of disinformation being used by the enemy to create panic.”
By 10:49 p.m., the broadcaster followed up with another detailed post, explicitly debunking specific false claims circulating online. The post clarified: “Pakistan has not lost any pilot, has not lost any F-16 fighter jet, has not lost any AWACS (Airborne Warning and Control System) aircraft, and there are no reports whatsoever of any attack on Lahore, any high-ranking government official’s residence, or any key installation.”
An accompanying graphic urged the public to “remain calm and cautious of disinformation being spread by enemies of the state at this crucial juncture,” reminding people to rely solely on official government sources and to verify information before sharing it further.
The government’s response comes as tensions in the region rise, with both Pakistan and India exchanging sharp accusations amid escalating military and diplomatic strains.
