Two Militants Killed in Tank as Security Forces Foil Attack on Lakki Police Station

Security forces on Saturday killed two militants, including a key Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) commander, during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Tank district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The slain commander has been identified as Hanzala, a known figure in the TTP network.

During the operation, another militant was captured injured and later provided critical intelligence about the group’s operational structure, hideouts, and local facilitators in the Tank region. Following this, security was tightened across the district, with checkposts set up at key entry and exit points.


Attempted Police Station Attack Thwarted in Lakki

In a separate incident, law enforcement foiled a pre-dawn attack on the Gambella Police Station in Lakki Marwat district. Authorities reported that 10 to 12 militants had surrounded the station, but fled after a swift and coordinated police response, preventing any major incident.


IED Blast in Bajaur Injures Civilian

Elsewhere, militants detonated a remote-controlled IED in the Sorbat Nalai area of Khar tehsil, Bajaur district. The explosion resulted in minor injuries to a local resident, identified as Subhan Ullah, son of Fazl Subhan. He was immediately shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital in Khar. Security forces later cordoned off the blast site and launched an investigation.


DSP Rakhmeen Khan Succumbs to Injuries

In a tragic development, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Rakhmeen Khan, who was critically injured in a terrorist ambush in North Waziristan earlier this month, passed away on Saturday.

Rakhmeen was wounded in the July 4 attack in the jurisdiction of Tullay Khula Police Station in Lower South Waziristan and had been under treatment at Mission Hospital, Peshawar.

His funeral prayers were held with full state honors at Malik Saad Shaheed Police Lines, attended by senior officers including Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Inspector General of Police Zulfiqar Hameed, CCPO Qasim Ali Khan, and other senior officials, alongside the DSP’s grieving family.

Floral wreaths were laid on the martyr’s coffin, and the IGP paid glowing tribute to the late officer’s bravery, calling him a symbol of courage and commitment to duty.
