UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has expressed deep concern over Israel’s intentions to broaden its military campaign in Gaza, warning it could result in further civilian casualties and devastation, according to a statement from his spokesperson cited by AFP.
“This course of action will undoubtedly cause more civilian deaths and additional destruction in Gaza,” said UN spokesperson Farhan Haq. He emphasized that “Gaza is, and must continue to be, a vital part of any future Palestinian state.”
