World Central Kitchen Halts Operations in Gaza as Aid Supplies Depleted

The U.S.-based charity World Central Kitchen (WCK) has announced it is suspending its operations in the Gaza Strip, citing a lack of supplies and restrictions imposed by Israel on aid deliveries, Reuters reported on Wednesday.

In a statement posted on X, WCK said, “After serving over 130 million meals and producing 26 million loaves of bread over the past 18 months, World Central Kitchen no longer has the supplies needed to cook meals or bake bread in Gaza.”

While the organization plans to continue providing critically needed drinking water wherever possible, it stressed that food distribution cannot resume until Israel permits the entry of aid into the territory.

“WCK trucks carrying food and cooking fuel have been waiting at the Gaza border since early March. Additional food and equipment are ready for shipment from Jordan and Egypt,” said the group, founded by celebrity chef José Andrés.
