10,000 sq-ft National Flag to Fly Proudly at Wagah on Youm-e-Takbeer

Park visitors captivated by the giant flag, capturing selfies

A gigantic Pakistani flag measuring 10,000 square feet, specially crafted in Karachi for Youm-e-Takbeer, has been sent to Lahore. It is set to be hoisted at the Wagah Border on a towering 110-foot pole, flying opposite the Indian Tricolour. This new flag is 400 square feet larger than the previous record-holder displayed at the same location.

This monumental flag was created as part of the celebrations commemorating the historic success of Operation Bonyan al-Marsous and the patriotic spirit of May 28, Youm-e-Takbeer.

The meticulous production took two weeks at a factory in Karachi’s Korangi area, where about 25 skilled artisans worked around the clock on stitching and assembling the massive flag.

Once initial work was completed at the factory, the materials were transported to Hill Park near Tariq Road. There, the crescent and star were carefully drawn, cut out, and sewn onto the vast green canvas.

Visitors at the park were drawn to the extraordinary sight, taking selfies with the enormous flag and interacting with the flag-makers to learn about the craftsmanship involved.

Speaking to Express News, Sheikh Nisar Parachamwala of VIP Flag Company said, “With this flag, we are breaking our own record. The previous flag hoisted at Wagah was 9,600 square feet, and this one is approximately 10,000 square feet.” He highlighted that the most challenging and delicate part was cutting the crescent and star, which demands exceptional precision and skill to achieve flawless curves and angles.
