According to a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), 12 militants with alleged ties to Indian proxy networks were killed in a series of security operations conducted across Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) and Balochistan between May 17 and 18.
The military’s media wing reported that during these engagements, two Pakistani soldiers were martyred in the line of duty.
In Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, nine members of the group identified as Fitna Al Khwarij were killed during multiple operations. One major intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Lakki Marwat District led to the death of five militants. A separate IBO in Bannu District resulted in the elimination of two more, ISPR stated.
Additionally, in North Waziristan’s Mir Ali area, a convoy of security forces was ambushed. In the ensuing exchange of fire, two more militants were killed.
The firefights claimed the lives of two soldiers: Sepoy Farhad Ali Turi (29), from District Kurram, and Lance Naik Sabir Afridi (32), from District Kohat. Both were praised for their courage and sacrifice.
ISPR noted that clearing operations are underway to ensure that no remaining hostile elements are left in the area.
Simultaneously, three militants affiliated with the Baloch Liberation Front (BLF)—described as an India-supported group—were killed in Balochistan during two separate operations.
In the Gishkur area of Awaran District, one militant, identified as Younas, was killed and two others injured during a firefight. In another encounter in Turbat, Kech District, security forces killed two more individuals—BLF commander Sabrullah and operative Amjad Bichoo. Both were allegedly involved in attacks against security personnel and targeted killings of civilians.
Weapons, ammunition, and explosives were recovered from the scenes.
The ISPR emphasized that Pakistan’s security forces remain committed to eliminating terrorism, especially threats linked to foreign sponsorship. The sacrifices of fallen soldiers continue to strengthen the country’s resolve in the fight against extremism.
