Bilawal-led Delegation in the US to Highlight Pakistan’s Concerns Over Indian Aggression

Delegation also scheduled to meet UN Secretary-General António Guterres in New YorkA high-level parliamentary delegation, headed by Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, has arrived in the United States to represent Pakistan’s perspective on the recent escalation with India. The visit, led by Bilawal—who previously served as Pakistan’s foreign minister—comes in the aftermath of India’s aggressive actions following the Pahalgam attack. During the heightened tensions, Pakistan shot down six Indian aircraft, before a ceasefire was brokered by US President Donald Trump.Sources said Bilawal’s delegation will meet with members of the US administration, Congress, prominent think tanks, and media representatives to articulate Pakistan’s position on the standoff with India. The delegation plans to highlight what it views as the root causes of the current tensions and address concerns about India’s disinformation efforts and foreign-influenced activities targeting Pakistan. The group will also meet with United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres in New York and then proceed to Washington to engage with senior officials in the Trump administration.A key focus will be India’s provocations around the Indus Waters Treaty and the potential ramifications for regional security. “The delegation will clearly communicate Pakistan’s concerns about India’s provocations and misinformation, which endanger regional peace,” a source close to the mission said. The team is expected to stay in the US until June 9, after which it will travel to the United Kingdom and later to various European nations. Notable members include former foreign minister Hina Rabbani Khar, former ambassador Jalil Abbas Jilani, Khurram Dastgir, and Musadik Malik.

Following the ceasefire with India, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif appointed Bilawal to lead the mission to present “Pakistan’s case for peace” and address the recent Indian escalation before the global community. The delegation is part of Pakistan’s broader diplomatic campaign to engage with international leaders and institutions on India’s actions and the risks to the Indus Waters Treaty. The government is also preparing to send additional delegations to other countries as part of this outreach effort.
