Advisor to the Finance Minister Khurram Schehzad has reaffirmed that the federal budget for the fiscal year 2025–26 will be presented on June 10 as planned, dispelling rumors that the date had been pushed back due to the Eidul Azha holidays.Media reports earlier suggested that the budget, initially anticipated for June 2, had been delayed until June 12 because of Eidul Azha, expected to be celebrated on June 7.However, in a post on X, Schehzad clarified that there had been no decision to reschedule the budget presentation. “As communicated earlier, the upcoming Federal Budget FY26 is on schedule to be announced on June 10, 2025,” he wrote. “Similarly, the Pakistan Economic Survey FY25 will be released on June 9, 2025.”Finance Secretary Imdadullah Bosal also confirmed that the budget would indeed be presented on June 10. Speaking to the media on Thursday, Bosal noted that while the dates for the Annual Plan Coordination Committee (APCC) and the National Economic Council (NEC) meetings are still to be finalized, the budget announcement date remains unchanged. The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee announced on Tuesday that the Zil Hajj moon was not sighted, confirming that Eidul Azha will be observed on June 7. Traditionally, the government declares three days of public holidays for Eidul Azha, which involve religious rituals such as animal sacrifice. This year, the third day of Eid coincides with the planned release of the Economic Survey on June 9.
